Loyola Univeristy College of Social Sciences

Department of Criminal Justice Game Website

Loyola University came to KMDG to design a marketing website that utilized gamification to generate interest and capture information. There were three games to be created: a spot the difference style photo hunt, a timeline matching game, and an evidence marker placement game.

UI/UX Design

This project required an out of the box approach to the design as the college did not just want a normal marketing site; they wanted an experience that would capture potential students' attention and give them a small taste of what they might encounter in a career in criminal justice. I decided early on that I wanted the background of the site to feel as if the user were looking at a desktop with notes and an open folder, much like a case file. From there it was a matter of creating a user interface that was intuitive, yet to still make sure that all instructions were clearly visible at all times. The inclusion of hints allowed for users to ask for help in case anything wasn't clear. In addition, we needed to have a navigation scheme that was visible but unobtrusive. Overall, this is one of my favorite projects that I've worked on over the years.
